6/5/22 - Note from Pastor
This past Wednesday, we suffered a deep loss in our community and church with the passing of Matt Rodgers. Matt was a life-long educator, having served as a teacher, coach, principal, and community college president. Matt loved his community, and he lived for the opportunity to serve others. He had the gift of service and encouragement. He loved giving other people credit for things. He felt most at home when he was praising someone else
One of the greatest instincts we can train ourselves to have is to be quick to praise others. Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” We ought to be people who’s impulse is to speak words that build up rather than break down.
Consider the words you’ve recently used through your speech, emails, texts, etc. Have they been edifying? Have they built up or torn down? Let us consider how we may be able to speak life-giving words to the people around us. Matt Rodgers was a shining example of this. Let us follow in his footsteps.
